I’m running for State Assembly because I believe government can and should work better for normal people. I’m running because I believe in a better future for Wisconsin.

<h1 style="text-align: center;">I was born and raised here in Wisconsin.</h1><h3 style="text-align: center;">I’m a sixth-generation Wisconsinite and the son of two public servants. Growing up, I learned that public service isn’t about titles or politics. It’s about offering up, working hard, and helping your neighbors when they need it most.</h3>My parents were deeply involved in our community, and they taught me about a tradition of Wisconsin leadership that put working people first. Leaders like Robert La Follette and Gaylord Nelson believed government should work for everyday people, not just the wealthy or well-connected. After graduating, I was commissioned as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer.I served for seven years on active duty, first as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and later as a Company Commander in the 4th Infantry Division, where I led 155 soldiers. I graduated from the Army’s premier leadership course, U.S. Army Ranger School, as well as the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course and Jumpmaster School, and earned my Expert Infantryman Badge. I deployed twice to the Middle East, serving in Kuwait and Iraq, and finished my service as a Captain.While serving, I met my wife, Hannie, also an Army officer. I’ve been trying to recruit her as a Wisconsinite ever since. Her first winter visit nearly derailed the whole plan, but we were married last year, and now we’re both excited to be putting down roots here at home.After finishing my military service and graduate studies in policy, I came back to Wisconsin because this is where we want to build our life and give back. I care deeply about this state and the people who live here.I’m running for the State Assembly because I believe government works best when it’s close to the people it serves. Wisconsin is worth fighting for, and I’ll bring the same sense of duty, honesty, and accountability to Madison that guided me in uniform.

Healthcare is too expensive for too many people. Ben will fight to bring down healthcare costs and expand healthcare access. He will protect rural hospitals and fight for expanded public access to healthcare. No person should go bankrupt because they get sick, Ben believes in making a healthcare system that works for everyone.

Whether housing, a new car, or a trip to the grocery store, costs are unsustainably high. Ben will fight to bring down costs for working people and bring creative solutions to bear on reducing prices. State government can and should work to make life more affordable for everyday people.

Every person should have the right to live, work, and retire in dignity. People shouldn’t have to work two, three jobs just to barely get by. Ben believes every worker should have the right to organize and advocate for improvements in their workplace. He will fight to repeal unfair labor laws and increase the minimum wage.

Ben believes that a good education is the birthright of every child. He will work to fully fund our public schools, ensure that school buildings are safe and comfortable, and work to recruit and keep qualified teachers.

Education

The state government has imposed unnecessary restraints on local governments while cutting state-wide education funding, forcing school districts and municipalities to raise taxes. Ben will fight to unshackle local governments and restore funding to education, allowing local governments to bring down property taxes.

Ben grew up fishing, hiking, and camping with his dad. As an Eagle Scout and an avid outdoorsman, he will protect Wisconsin’s parks, lakes, rivers, and campgrounds for future generations. Ben will protect Wisconsin’s natural beauty and will fight to make sure future generations have access to it.
